HEALING HEARTS MOMS WEEKEND This is a special retreat for mothers whose children have passed away due to cancer. Mothers who have lost children share painful memories, and perhaps help fill the void that the death of their child has created. During the weekend, mothers share tears, but also mischief and laughter. Relaxation and pampering combined with a few surprises make this a weekend to remember. Moms go home relaxed and refreshed.
REFLECTIONS For bereaved parents, grief is all-consuming – marriages suffer, siblings feel lost and angry, and life seems out of control. During our Reflections weekend, parents who have lost a child to cancer come to Myrtle Beach with others who have suffered the same loss. Parents who are new to Courageous Kidz, and who might be nervous about coming into a room full of strangers, soon find themselves in a roomful of friends. Painful memories are tempered through cathartic conversations with grief counselors, spiritual advisors and other parents who help guide one another through their maze of grief. On Sunday, the weekend ends with our traditional balloon release on the beach, celebrating the lives of these very special children who have been lost. For many, the Reflections weekend is the beginning to the long road of healing.
